The nest and the tree-Collective basketry workshop

  • 7 ISLAS HOTEL 4*. 14 Valverde Street Madrid, MD, 28004 Spain (map)

This activity will be the culmination of a series of workshops held by visual artist Alejandro Abarzúa at Pueblos Unidos, an organization of the Fundación San Juan del Castillo in Madrid, for the collective creation of a wicker installation using the technique of interlacing and chaotic weaving.

This work will be completed at 7 Islas Hotel during Madrid Hotel Week 2025 and will be the result of a collective work process, in which creativity, teamwork and the emotional well-being of the participants have been encouraged.

The activity and the work will be directed by Alejandro Abarzúa, current exhibitor at the art gallery of the 7 Islas Hotel with his show "Mestiza". Participants will learn the technique of intertwining and chaotic weaving with wicker, and will complement the work with raffia and other materials (trash treasure), to create the nest of MESTIZA.

We will co-create together in a space of intercultural and intergenerational exchange, where creativity and innovation are intertwined with craftsmanship, valuing the contribution of each person in the final result.

Reserve your place and be part of a sensory, artisanal and collective experience in a living space that hosts innovative artistic proposals and experiences that invite dialogue between Art, community and city.
